Two New Curtains

Here are two projects I have recently completed. The first is a simple striped roman shade for a small bathroom.

The second project is a pair of multi-colored panels with fringe made to coordinate with the home owner's existing bedding.

I am very pleased with how both projects turned out. They both enhanced and completed the existing decor.

Roadside Finds

I am always amazed by what people put out along the road for free. Last week I was fortunate to come across the dishes pictured above. A complete set of vintage white dishes with a small silver band! It prompted me to think about what other roadside treasures I have in my house. Here are some of my favorites.
A cute little table in my bathroom which I painted black.
A few pieces of pottery.
A great dressing table which I painted and stenciled. This was fun to drag home!
An old lamp and a vintage football print. These great carved wood pieces which I believe were originally part of a stair case. There were five in all. I kept two, painted one white and gave the rest away.

Fabric Ribbons

Like most people who sew, I have a hard time getting rid of left over fabric. Hence, I have an ever growing collection of fabric scraps. What to do? The other day I decided to make "fabric ribbons" and see how many creative ways I could use them. Here are my ideas. If you have other ideas to share I would love to hear from you! Instructions for making the fabric ribbons are at the end of this post.

Hair ribbons:

Shoe Laces: Napkin Rings:

Wrap a Present:

Instructions: Cut a strip of fabric the length and 4 times the width of your desired finished ribbon length and width. (All of my ribbons are approximately 44" long.) Press ends under. Press in half lengthwise. Unfold center crease and press both unfinished edges towards middle. Sew. Enjoy!
